By Roger VincentBrakes Lack Bite as Game Slips AwayYoung Brakes continued to threaten much and deliver little while Alveston took their three clear chances for a flattering scoreline. Rellis had the first of many chances before Heath, in the Brakes' goal, picked up a leg injury that affected his mobility for much of the game. A long, floating cross over the Brakes' defence was converted in the 11th but Brakes were unlucky to go into the break 1-0 down with Webb looking particularly sharp. Just as it seemed that Brakes could get back into the game Alveston broke to make it 2-0 in the 46th but Brakes should have reduced the arrears in the 62nd when McGarvey hit a post and the ball was scrambled clear of Rellis at point blank range from the rebound. With heads visibly dropping a goal at this stage could well have turned the game round but, instead, it was Alveston who slotted the next effort when the ball was struck past the despairing Heath in the 67th to complete the scoring, 3-0.
