Sound Performance From Leamington's Youngest Players

Several friendlies are being organised to give the younger youth players, mostly first years, a game. These will probably all take place at North Leamington School on Saturday mornings; eight dates have been booked.

In the first half both teams played well and Leamington Youth opened the scoring in the 32nd min when a free-kick from 25 yds was played over the top to the back post where Seb Rockcliff came in from the right to hammer home a low drive into the far left corner.

New Leamington keeper, Luke Cole, made some fine saves and was quick off his line; he replaced Gary Moore who was ill.

The second half saw the full-time academy youth players of Kettering come out with all guns blazing after an obvious telling off from manager Martyn Harris. In the space of 8 mins they had raced into a 3-1 lead scoring in the 54th, 60th, and 62nd minutes.

On came the more attacking Tolley who gained a free kick on the edge of the Kettering box and, with what is now becoming his trade mark, slotted the ball round the wall and into the keepers bottom left corner.

At 3-2 the scoreline looked respectable for the younger Leamington Lads but in the final ten minutes another three quick goals were conceded, as the difference in fitness levels showed in favour of an impressive Kettering.

Leamington Youth: Luke Cole (GK), Leigh Barton, Alex Shaw, Martin Groves (capt), Jamie Coleman, Ashley Kitchen, Kyle Crowley, Iain Groves, Seb Rockcliff, Chris Lewis, Sean Richards
Subs: Josh Tolley, Ben Halstead-Smyth
