Bright Brakes Beat Buckingham

Heavy rain beforehand kept the crowd down to 203 but improved the performance as Brakes went 3 up before half-time with some superb football. Timms made it 1-0 in the 20th when he surged through the defence for a second time this time stroking the ball in the corner past the advancing goalkeeper. In the 25th Dix scored a Ronaldhino Vs Seaman free kick with the Buckingham goalie back-pedalling furiously and on 41 Webb drove the ball in the corner after a quite superb passing display. New boys Mark Rowland, Andy Crabtree again performed well in defence.

The rhythm was upset a little in the second half with all the substitutes coming on at once as Brakes' management tried some different combinations and the Robins pulled one back in the 78th as they came more into the game. Newcomer, Chris Handrahan, performed well throughout the half. Nicholls, Timms and Shearsby came back on for the last 10 minutes replacing Mort, Thompson and Webb but Brakes had done enough in a very good-tempered game against UCL Premier opposition to carry the day.

Leamington: Richard Morris (Umbi Sidhu 46), Jonny Burgess, Mark Rowland, Andy Crabtree, Andy Dix (Lee Scott 46), Glen Webb, Nick Mort, Baz Shearsby (Chris Handrahan 46), Daz Timms (Neil Stacey 46), Paul Nicholls (Josh Blake 46), Steve Thompson [Capt.]
