Brakes Edged Out by Marconi

Young Brakes lost to two second-half strikes from a strong Marconi side at Gypsy Lane. Paul Wilkinson was impressive up front but the real star was goalkeeper Neil Thornton who showed why he is considered to have such a promising future.

With the seniors playing at Wilmcote on the same evening and the England v Albania international on television, Brakes amazingly had big enough support to cover their costs. Brakes entertain Rugby Town at Gypsy Lane the following Wednesday, 12 September, at 7:30 and it is to be hoped that a large crowd comes along to cheer our first "Rugby" victory of this campaign.
