Brakes Goal Drought Continues

Another outstanding performance from Webb and sound defensive work from Harj Dhesi and Neil Cook promised much but again delivered little as Brakes goal drought continued. Blake missed a golden opportunity on 5 minutes when he shot wide in front of goal and Brakes then fell to two sucker punches in the 10th and 15th minutes when direct runs at the defence caught them out. A third goal from a free kick 8 yards out after Morris had to catch a ballooned back pass saw Brakes 3-0 down after 25 minutes.

Again Brakes struggled against opposition 3 divisions ahead but performed creditably conceding one further goal in the 55th minute after a defensive fumble. The second half proved much more promising with Brakes starting to work as a team and going close several times without ever looking like providing the killer punch.

Missing Steve Thompson and Stuart Hepburn in the pre-season friendlies is something Brakes will have to live with as the bad news is that both will miss much, if not all, of the coming season with long-term injuries.
